Your Desperation is Choking the Dream

Playing the Long Game, Taking Your Time, Enjoying the Process

Relax that Grip

Ever heard the phrase “Anything you hold too tightly, you will lose”?

This applies to traders too. The dream is big. The goal is important. You want it bad. But grip it too tight and you choke it. That is even more amplified in trading.

The urge to get moving now, and get results now impacts your performance more than any other endeavour.

Take profits early, over-trade, and taking risky bets. All with seemingly good intentions. You want the goal now. But we both know that’s not how it works.

It’s a long game. It takes time.

Play the long game, take your time, enjoy the process, and relax your grip a bit.

How does that translate to everyday trading?

  • Shrug your shoulders at a loss.
  • Be quick to walk away from the screens if you see nothing.
  • Be ok with making mistakes, you’re improving and it takes time.

You’re ambitious, hungry, and driven.

But divert that into homework, study, and journaling. If you push that urgency into your execution it will trip you up.
